Quotes of the day:

Then one day, I saw bodies falling from the sky. I witnessed people dying. And that\'s when I decided to turn my life around[...] Being on tour for the first few years was bad. All we\'d do is get drunk and do drugs, but I loved it. Because I was doing something I loved with people I loved[...] And now, 2011, I have a beautiful baby girl and a caring wife and I get to perform for all my adoring fans every day. I am living proof that no matter how bad life gets, it gets better. I am Gerard Way and I survived. You will too.

— Gerard Way

A home equity conversion mortgage (HECM) is a type of reverse mortgage that is insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).  Home equity conversion mortgages allow seniors to convert the equity in their home to cash. The amount that may be borrowed is based on the appraised value of the home (subject to FHA limits), and the age of the borrower (borrowers must be at least 62 years old). Money is advanced against the value of the equity in the home. Interest accrues on the outstanding loan balance, but no payments must be made until the home is sold or the borrower(s) die, at which point the loan must be repaid entirely.
